Tottenham defeated West Ham and inflicted more misery on Graham Potter’s side who slumped back into the relegation zone after a 3-0 loss at the London Stadium.

The Hammers began the match well but were thrown off their stride by a Cristian Romero header that was eventually ruled out for a foul in the build-up. The hosts made it to the half time break on level terms but Spurs responded quicker after the break.

Another corner undid West Ham’s good work as Pape Sarr nodded home from the back post before Tomas Soucek was sent off for a rash tackle and the Irons dropped to 10-men.

Two goals followed, one for Lucas Bergvall through a fine header and another for Micky van de Ven scuffing in a snapshot from inside the area.

Spurs earned all three points and drew level with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table while West Ham languish at the opposite end and have more questions to answer.

Tottenham ease past West Ham to put Graham Potter back under pressure

Graham Potter found himself back under pressure as Tottenham returned to winning ways with a 3-0 London derby demolition of West Ham.

Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven got the goals as Spurs, playing their first match since the departure of chairman Daniel Levy, bounced back from the 1-0 home defeat by Bournemouth a fortnight ago.

But for West Ham, any of the confidence garnered from their surprise 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest evaporated as, for the second home game in a row, they wilted in front of a London rival.
