Leeds United took advantage of West Ham United's poor form to earn all three points at Elland Road.

When it comes to the end of the season, these are the kind of games that can help a team's bid for safety.

Daniel Farke's side went into this side only having won once in their last games in all competitions while the Hammers have won just one game all season.

Nuno Espírito Santo built a mean defence at Nottingham Forest but his West Ham side were all at sea a cross from the right was headed down after poor defending by Oliver Scarles. The ball broke nicely to Brenden Aaronson who was able to put his side ahead in the first three minutes.

It was 2-0 by the 15th minute, and again the Irons' defence – or lack of – had to be highlighted as Sean Longstaff whipped in a ball that Joe Rodon was on hand to head in.

After a bright start from the home side the first half was interrupted by what looked like a painful injury to Scarles who had to be replaced in the 25th minute and Gabriel Gudmundsson being replaced just before the 45th minute.

In between those two incidents, West Ham had the ball in the net. Lucas Paquetá had thought his strike had pulled his side back into the game but a lengthy VAR review proved otherwise.

All of those incidents lead to a remarkable 13 minutes of added time!

West Ham did improve in the second half but waited too long to score. The goal came when Jarrod Bowen made a yard for himself to float a ball that substitute Matheus Fernandes nodded into the net in the 90th minute but the visitors weren't able to grab an equaliser.

That result was a big win for Leeds, who are now up to 13th in the table while West Ham remain 19th on just four points.
