FC Barcelona are not going into the next international break in the best of spirits, as they have faced two defeats in the two games leading up to this October break. First, they were defeated by PSG in the UEFA Champions League, and then, Sevilla beat them in La Liga last night.

The Catalans performed significantly below their expected standards in this latter game, and there have been various explanations for this decline in performance.

One such explanation was put forward by the Blaugrana captain, Frenkie de Jong. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Dutchman talked to the media after the game, and talked about how accumulated fatigue took its toll on the players:

For now, up to 10 Barcelona players, including Frenkie de Jong, will be joining their national team camps, so they will not get a lot of time to rest during this break as well.

Meanwhile, one can hope that the players who have not been called up by their respective national teams would return in a better condition after the break to help the Blaugrana team turn things around.
