Grêmio drew with Internacional at Beira-Rio to clinch the Gaúcho title. According to Globo.com, goalkeeper Weverton and centre-back Gustavo Martins were the team’s standout performers.
Weverton produced a key first-half save to prevent Inter opening the scoring. At 53 minutes of the first half, Gustavo Martins scored from inside the area. Later, Wagner Leonardo conceded a penalty on Borré and was sent off.
Pavón struggled at times against Carbonero but made vital recoveries and used space intelligently. Viery was assured in covering Borré and other Inter forwards. Marlon defended firmly and delivered the corner that led to Gustavo Martins’s goal.
Arthur Melo dictated in front of the back line with crisp passing, less present in the press but high on technique. Noriega cleared danger in front of the area, keeping his focus on the marking. Monsalve grafted in midfield and was regularly halted by fouls.
Enamorado broke with pace and unsettled Inter, Amuzu offered a constant outlet and drew several heavy challenges, while Tetê worked back on the right and released Carlos Vinícius for a chance he failed to convert with a heavy touch. Kannemann reinforced the defence to finish as captain, and Willian helped steady possession. Coach Luís Castro maintained an attacking posture with his substitutions.
