It has been a busy summer for Wednesday after they secured survival in the Championship last season following a remarkable turnaround under Danny Rohl.

Rohl signed a new long-term contract with the Owls in May, and Lowe became his fifth new signing of the summer when he joined the club on Sunday following his departure from Bournemouth.

Lowe enjoyed a decent loan spell at Swansea City last season, but it was not enough to force his way back into Andoni Iraola's plans at the Vitality Stadium, and he was released by the Cherries at the end of his contract.

The 29-year-old was reportedly the subject of interest from the likes of Watford, Norwich City, Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Portsmouth and Derby County this summer, but he says that Rohl's ambition was a big factor in his decision to join Wednesday.

"I’m really pleased to be here," Lowe told the club's official YouTube channel.

"Really glad to get it over the line and join this massive football club… It was a move that almost happened last year but for whatever reason it didn’t quite pan out, but now that the summer has fully started and we’ve managed to get it done nice and early I can’t wait to have a full pre-season and get going.

"I’ve known how big the club is, how big the fan base is, and what else pushed it was the ambitions of the manager - how active he is, and how ambitious he is. Also how his thought process works. That was another major key for coming down.

"I spoke to him a few times before coming and everything was so positive - it sounds like exactly how I want to play, the style is what I want to be involved in, the ambitions too. It was a no-brainer really when I heard the words come out of his mouth. It’s something I want to be a part of, and repay the faith he’s put in me."

Lowe shared a message with Wednesday supporters on social media after his move to Hillsborough was announced, revealing his excitement at joining the club.

Among those to react to Lowe's post was his former Swansea team-mate and ex-Owls midfielder George Byers, who was released by the club this summer after returning from his loan at Blackpool.

Byers scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 78 appearances during his three-year spell at Wednesday, establishing himself as a firm fan favourite, and it seems he still has plenty of affection for his former club as he commented: "Congrats brother!! What a club."

Lowe is unlikely to be the last of the Owls' new additions this summer, and the club are closing in on a deal to re-sign Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper James Beadle after his successful loan stint last season, and they are set to beat Derby County and Norwich City to the signing of Arka Gdynia forward Olaf Kobacki.

With a number of Championship clubs said to have been keen on Lowe, it is a big coup for Wednesday to win the race for his signature.

The Owls know all too well what Lowe is capable of after he scored twice for Swansea against them this season, and they will hope that the Jamaican international can rediscover his best form at Hillsborough.

Lowe has proven that he can be a prolific goalscorer at Championship level previously, and he will add useful versatility to Wednesday's forward line with his ability to play out wide or up front.
