“What a squad he has built” Gary Neville says Alvarez will complete this Arsenal team

Gary Neville could not hide his admiration for the Arsenal squad after the Gunners dominated Coventry City on the opening night, with Martin Zubimendi and Eberechi Eze starting the game from the bench.

New signing Bruno Guimaraes was injured, yet Arsenal still had a superb midfield, while Zubimendi, who was a regular in their team last season, was also among the substitutes. Christos Tzolis also impressed in his first Premier League game for the club.

Every player in the Arsenal shirt performed well, and securing victory was a collective effort from the team. However, it is difficult not to be impressed by the quality within the Arsenal squad.

The Gunners have focused on quality over quantity this summer, and it is clear to see why, as they cannot afford to mix mediocre players with the stars they have added to their squad over the last few seasons.

Neville praises Arsenal squad

Arsenal remain one of the top clubs in the world, and they will continue to improve their squad. Neville believes they could become unstoppable if they manage to sign Julian Alvarez, whom they have spent the last few weeks trying to bring to the club.

He said via Sky Sports:

“What a squad he has built. If he puts another forward into that. If they could get Julian Alvarez somehow, that would light this place up as you’d have a world-class striker to go with all the world-class defenders and midfielders.

“They wouldn’t just become Premier League title winners; they’d go the next step and win a Champions League. It’s a massive 10 days. He needs a bit of magic up front – someone that can win a game for you when you don’t play well.”

Arsenal chasing greater success

Neville’s comments highlight the strength Arsenal already possess across the pitch. The Gunners have built a squad capable of competing at the highest level, and the former Manchester United defender believes adding another elite forward could take them to another level.

Arsenal have already started the season strongly, but they will want to maintain that standard throughout the campaign. Their depth means Arteta can leave quality players on the bench while still fielding a strong starting team.

The next few weeks could therefore be important for Arsenal as they consider whether to make another major addition. If they can secure Alvarez, Neville believes they could have the quality required not only to defend their Premier League title but also to challenge for the Champions League.
