Boca are a result away from booking a Torneo Apertura 2026 play-offs place, with Thursday 23 April against Defensa y Justicia shaping up as a clincher.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Claudio Úbeda’s side will qualify with a draw, moving to 25 points and putting them beyond the reach of Zone A’s chasers.
Boca arrive on the back of a 1-0 interzonal win over River. Even if Talleres, Lanús, Independiente, Unión and San Lorenzo take maximum points, the worst-case scenario would still leave Boca eighth, the final qualifying berth. A win over Defensa y Justicia would lift them to 27 and settle it outright.
Top spot is still in play. The current standings read Estudiantes de La Plata 27 points, Vélez Sarsfield 26, then Boca and Talleres on 24.
With six points remaining, including a postponed fixture from matchday nine, Boca can reach 30. To finish first they must win both games and hope Estudiantes drop points, for instance by winning one and losing one, which would leave both on 30 and bring goal difference into play, currently Estudiantes +10 and Boca +8. The same applies if Vélez win one and draw one, which would also take them to 30, with their goal difference at +6.
Vélez are due to close the round on Monday at home to Unión. While Boca focus on their own job, other results will shape the final seeding for the play-offs.
