Chelsea sources are apparently insisting that Enzo Fernandez is happy at the club despite his recent ‘flirting’ with Real Madrid.

They also think that with the arrival of Xabi Alonso coming in as new manager at the club, this will help with Fernandez’ thinking on his future.

Well, it might help. But that’s also looking at it on the very optimistic side. I think it could take a lot of convincing for Fernandez to want to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer, and there is also the subject of a new contract with improved terms, which the midfielder reportedly wants.

I’m sure he’s pleased that Alonso is coming in and would be interested in working with him, but there is a lot more to it than just the manager coming in.

Alonso to help convince Fernandez?

Football London report that Chelsea sources have insisted ever since Enzo Fernandez flirted with a move to Real Madrid that Fernandez, who was signed for almost £107million in January 2023, is happy at Stamford Bridge.

They also say that the club will be hoping the appointment of Xabi Alonso will appease not only Fernandez but the rest of the squad.

In other news today..

With Chelsea winning the game against Tottenham 2-1 last night, it was actually Enzo Fernandez who slammed a great goal to put The Blues ahead, striking one from range into the back of the Spurs net.

Then it was midfielder Andrey Santos who bundled in the important second goal, with Fernandez grabbing the assist for it.
