AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche dedicated special message to teammate Paul Pogba after the club’s impressive 1-0 victory over Paris Saint Germain on Saturday in Ligue 1 matchday 14.

Akliouche completed the full 90 minute while Pogba came off the bench in the 86 minute marking his second consecutive league appearance as he slowly reintegrates into competitive football following a long suspension & physical rehabilitation.

Speaking after the match, Akliouche praised the former Juventus & Manchester United midfielder:

"Pogba? It’s truly pleasure to play with him after everything he has achieved in football. We are happy to have him with us.”

Pogba joined Monaco on free transfer last summer after serving lengthy ban for unintentionally consuming prohibited substance. Months of conditioning and recovery have now allowed the 2018 World Cup winner to take his first steps back onto the pitch.

The 22 year old winger of Algerian descent also emphasised the significance of the victory over PSG:

“We knew it would be a decisive match. We’ve been going through difficult period with poor results, so this was the perfect moment to get back on track. We need to build on the mentality we showed today.”

Akliouche praised Monaco’s unity & tactical discipline:

“We knew PSG would dominate the ball so we had to work together. For me, this was reference match in terms of mentality & collective effort.”

The standings

Monaco’s win takes them to 23 points (7 wins, 2 draws, 5 losses), lifting them to sixth place.

PSG remain top of the table — temporarily — with 30 points from 9 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats.
