Barcelona coach Hansi Flick attended Joan Laporta’s book presentation, a move seen as support before the club’s presidential elections.

Flick appears at Laporta event in Barcelona

Hansi Flick head coach of Barcelona was present at the Ateneu Hall to attend the presentation of Joan Laporta’s new book.

Laporta introduced his book, “This Is How We Saved Barcelona” which he co-wrote with Josep Maria Fonalleras. The book explains Laporta’s view of the path he followed at the club since 2021 during difficult financial and sporting period.

Strong presence from club digures

Flick did not attend alone. He was joined by Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director and Bojan Krkic, the club’s football coordinator.

Their presence together was widely seen as public sign of support for Laporta who is standing as candidate in the upcoming club elections.

According to Marca, Flick’s attendance clearly shows where the German coach stands ahead of the vote.

Elections set for 15 March

Barcelona’s presidential elections are scheduled for 15 March. Flick was asked earlier this year about the elections and said that voting is private matter and not very important to discuss publicly.

Despite that comment, his appearance at the book event has drawn attention inside the club and among supporters.

Laporta is also backed strongly by Deco whose future at Barcelona depends on the election result. Rival candidate Victor Font has already stated that he would remove the Portuguese director if he wins the presidency.
