Former Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron delivered a brutal verdict on Nathan Jones after the Potters' 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic in midweek.
Former Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron has slammed Nathan Jones after the Potters' 3-0 victory over his Charlton Athletic side at the bet365 Stadium on Tuesday night.
Jones took over as Stoke manager in January 2019 following a successful three-year spell at Luton Town, and after guiding the Hatters to promotion from League Two, they were second in the League One table at the time of his departure.
The Potters had been relegated from the Premier League the previous season, and they had just parted company with Gary Rowett after an inconsistent start to the campaign, but Jones did little to improve their fortunes during what proved to be a nightmare stint at the club.
Jones won only seven of his 38 games in charge of Stoke, drawing 13 and losing 18, which gave him a win record of just 18.4%, and he was dismissed after just under 10 months in charge with the club languishing in the Championship relegation zone.
After a second spell at Luton and a disastrous 95-day tenure at Southampton, Jones has rebuilt his managerial reputation since taking over at Charlton, and after leading the Addicks to promotion from League One last season, he has overseen a strong start to life back in the Championship.
However, it was a tough evening for Jones on his return to Stoke on Tuesday night as his Charlton side were beaten 3-0, and all the goals came inside the opening 34 minutes as Sorba Thomas' double and Million Manhoef's strike secured a comfortable victory for Mark Robins' men.

Cameron joined Stoke from MLS side Houston Dynamo in July 2012, and he went on to score two goals and provide six assists in 186 appearances for the club during a seven-year spell at the bet365 Stadium.
The former United States international helped the Potters achieve three consecutive ninth-placed finishes in the Premier League under Mark Hughes between 2013 and 2016, but he was also part of the side that was relegated from the top flight in the 2017-18 season.
After being deemed surplus to requirements by Rowett, Cameron was loaned out to Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2018, and he made his move to Loftus Road permanent the following year, meaning he never got to play for Stoke under Jones.
However, after returning from his initial loan spell at QPR, Cameron was informed by Jones that he had no future at the club, and it seems there is still no love lost between the pair, with the 40-year-old hitting out at the Welshman after Charlton's 3-0 defeat against the Potters in midweek.
In response to a photo posted by a Stoke fan account on Instagram showing Jones looking glum in the dugout, Cameron wrote: "By far the best picture! What an absolute whopper of a manager! Little weasel."

Cameron's comments are certainly harsh, and it is perhaps not the most professional way for the American to speak about his former manager, but there are not too many people connected to Stoke who would have positive words to say about Jones.
While Jones is far from the only manager to have struggled at the bet365 Stadium in recent times, his spell in charge of the Potters was nothing short of dismal, and he left the club in serious relegation danger at the time of his departure.
After watching Charlton concede four goals in just eight minutes in their 5-1 defeat to Southampton on Saturday, it was another bruising evening for Jones as his side went 3-0 down after just over half an hour at Stoke in midweek, and it does not get much easier for him with a trip to leaders Coventry City to come this weekend.
