What is at stake in Benfica’s complaint against Samu | OneFootball

Benfica have lodged a disciplinary complaint against Samu over an alleged attack on Bah during the clássico with Porto.

O Jogo reports that the submission was made on Monday, relating to the seventh round of the I Liga. The case is framed as violent conduct that could bring a fine and a suspension of one to 10 matches under article 151, no. 1, a) of the Liga Portugal Disciplinary Regulations.

In the complaint, Benfica argue referee Miguel Nogueira and VAR Luís Ferreira did not detect the Porto forward’s gesture. They add that, had it been seen, a red card would have followed.

The club say Samu struck Bah from behind when there was no contest for the ball. They contend the act was deliberate.

On that basis, Benfica state that the Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Council must act by sanctioning the player.
