An insight into the stance of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona when it comes to the potential summer signing of Marco Verratti has today been forthcoming online.
The name of midfielder Verratti, of course, has returned to the forefront of the headlines in Barcelona over the course of the last 24 hours.
This comes after word surfaced in the media that the Italian international has offered up his services to the Blaugrana with a view to next season.
Verratti, for his part, is currently plying his trade with Qatari outfit Al-Arabi, after bidding Paris Saint-Germain and the European game as a whole farewell last summer.
Amid the suggestion that the 31-year-old has already grown tired of life in the Middle East, however, Mundo Deportivo have confirmed that, through intermediaries, Verratti has made himself available for transfer to the aforementioned Barca.
What, though, is the stance of the brass in Catalunya’s capital when it comes to as much?
As per a fresh report on the part of MD, Verratti is altogether unlikely to make his way to La Liga with a view to next season.
Though Deco and co. are on the lookout for deep-lying midfield reinforcements, and the Italian remains an intriguing option, ‘he is not a priority option’.
Why? Concerns over Verratti’s level following a year in the Qatar Stars League, and the extent of the pay-cut which would be required on the part of the ex-Pescara talent to make his Blaugrana wish come true.
