What is left to be decided on League Two's final day? | OneFootball

With the EFL wrapping up this weekend we have already taken a look at the stakes for the Championship and League One on the final day, now we turn our attention to League Two.

Unlike the second and third tiers, there's a lot more to play for with winners yet to be crowned and just two teams who have secured promotion to League One: MK Dons and Bromley.

So, let's break down what to expect on Saturday...

Title down to the wire

MK Dons are currently top of League Two on 85 points just one clear of the Ravens, who are having a historic season. Paul Warne's side can wrap up the title should they beat 15th-placed Fleetwood Town in Lancashire. 

However, if they lose or only manage a draw then they could finish second with Bromley hosting 12th-placed Walsall in their game. Andy Woodman's team just need to win and hope for the best elsewhere.

One automatic spot up for grabs

There are three teams competing for third place who will be looking to avoid having to go through the play-offs.

Cambridge United are currently in third and could feasibly finish second if they win and Bromley lose but a victory away to Crewe Alexandra would ensure their return to League One.

Waiting in the wings are fourth-placed Salford City (on 80 points, one behind the U's) and Notts County (79 points). Both teams are already guaranteed at least a play-off place but know that a win could potentially see them rise to third place.

Salford will be travelling to relegation-threatened Crawley Town while Notts County host midtable Bristol Rovers.

Battle for the last play-off place

With Salford, Notts County, and also Grimsby Town all guaranteed at least a spot in the play-offs that leaves us with one final slot and it's set-up perfectly.

Chesterfield are currently in seventh on 76 points which is just one more than Swindon Town who they visit on Saturday.

Of course, that just means that Chesterfield need to avoid defeat to book their play-off spot. However, that will be no easy feat at the County Ground especially since the Robins defeated the Spireites earlier this season.

Leaving the Football League..

Down at the bottom it seems all but certain that Barrow AFC will be in the National League next season. The Cumbrian side need to win big against Newport County and hope that both Crawley Town and Harrogate Town lose by sufficient goal margins to cancel out any goal difference.

Assuming Barrow are destined for the drop that leaves us with four teams trying to avoid finishing in 23rd place.

Harrogate Town are currently on 39 points the same as Crawley Town who have a better goal difference (-24 to Harrogate's -28). Just above them are two teams on 40 points: Newport (21st, -30GD) and Tranmere Rovers (20th, -25 goal difference).

For Newport and Tranmere, winning is enough. As we mentioned, the Exiles will be away to bottom-of-the-league Barrow while Rovers host Grimsby Town, who will end the season in a play-off position regardless of their result.

Should any of those two teams drop points then they have to worry about what's behind them – especially Newport County who have the worst goal difference of the four.

Crawley Town just need to match or better Harrogate's result to stay up but they will be hosting a Salford City side eager for third place. The Sulphurites meanwhile will welcome ninth-placed Barnet who are just out of contention for a top seven place.

It could get messy at the bottom on Saturday then which will make it all the more entertaining for the neutrals.
