Italy could potentially book their spot in the Nations League quarter-finals depending on results in Monday’s round of Nations League fixtures, as Luciano Spalletti’s side prepare to host Israel in Udine.

This season’s edition of the Nations League features one extra round compared to recent years. The group stages are being contested as usual, as are the semi-final and final mini-tournament in the summer, but there will be an additional quarter-final round in March.

The top two ranked teams from the Nations League ‘A’ groups will automatically qualify for the quarter-finals.

What Italy need to secure Nations League qualification

Italy currently lead Group 2 in League A with seven points from their opening three results of the tournament.

If the Azzurri beat Israel, and if France beat Belgium in their game on Monday night, Italy will be guaranteed to finish no lower than second in their group, and will progress to the Nations League quarter-finals regardless of what happens in their two remaining group stage fixtures.

There will be another international break in November, when Italy will face belgium away, before hosting France in San Siro a few days later on November 17.
