Leeds United sit third in the Premier League and James Trafford has been central to their fast start. Signed from Man City for a club-record £45m, he became the most expensive English goalkeeper in history.

After Monday's 4-1 win over Newcastle, Kasper Schmeichel said on Premier League Productions that he had messaged Trafford about Daniel Farke’s approach. Trafford replied that Leeds play "heavy-metal football". Farke was angered by the late consolation.

Schmeichel added that Leeds overrun opponents, attack with intent and press high, and that Farke has players willing to run through a brick wall for him.

Trafford’s start has been strong, with two clean sheets and only three goals conceded in his first four Premier League games.

For comparison, Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier conceded seven in their first four league games for Leeds last season, Lucas Perri let in five after a £15.6m move from Lyon, while Paul Robinson and Nigel Martyn allowed two apiece.

His early form will have caught the eye of Thomas Tuchel.
