Sheffield Wednesday fans, players, and staff have been enduring a long time of turmoil now, both on and off the pitch, due to multiple reasons that seem to be ever-present.

The main reason being financial woes that led to key names walking out of the door in the summer and could well prove to become a trend in the future if a solution isn't found.

Current owner Dejphon Chansiri has come under heat from all involved at Hillsborough, with the common narrative being supporters wanting him to cut his losses and sell his stake in South Yorkshire.

Other problems among the long list are transfer embargoes and late payments of wages, which have unsurprisingly translated into poor performances on the pitch. The owls sit rock bottom of the Championship with merely six points after 10 games. And with a heavy reliance on youth this season, it could well prove to be a difficult task in turning their fortunes around.

The Owls' supporters are wishing for a turn of events in the near future which starts at the top of their hierarchy. John Textor has had a reported interest in taking over the club, but whether that will come to fruition remains to be seen.

John Textor has sought out raising funds for Sheffield Wednesday takeover

Back in August, it was reported via The Guardian that Textor was looking to raise funds in order to invest in Wednesday.

The American businessman is no stranger to being an owner of a football club as he was previously involved at Crystal Palace with a 44.9% stake that he has now sold, and currently has control of Lyon and Botafogo as part of his Eagle Football Group.

However, the 59-year-old could well cut ties with the investment firm which would bolster his interest in Sheffield Wednesday as it's believed that Textor is seeking out a takeover that doesn't involve the Eagle Football Group.

With Chansiri setting his asking price at £100 million, it is a figure that is deemed to be too much for Textor, but with the American still holding a keen interest, difficult conversations must be had.

Textor spoke to journalist Alan Myers recently about his potential takeover, labeling the negotiations as "complicated." Textor said: "It’s not like I wouldn’t love to come in tomorrow, but they’re in a very difficult situation."

"There’s a lot to figure out with the owner. There is a lot to figure out with the league itself."

"There’s not a lot of time to figure it out. It seems like half to two-thirds of that squad is under the age of 21. By the time we can even get in and address things, if we were to reach a deal with the club, I hope it’s not too late."

With that said, Textor is keen to take over the struggling Owls. However, without the £100m asking price being lowered at the very least, it is unlikely that any progress will be made. But with problems at Wednesday going beyond just money with a depleted squad, the attractiveness may wear off if more senior players walk away from the club in 2026.

Dejphon Chansiri's potential £70m asking price could still make striking a deal difficult for John Textor

After taking over Sheffield Wednesday in 2015, the Owls have experienced a slow decline which has become prevalent now more than ever. Struggles on and off the pitch have led to supporters facing the fact of the likelihood of relegation to League One come the end of the season.

It was reported that Chansiri was potentially willing to drop his valuation to £70m, according to the Daily Mail. Therefore, Wednesday's supporters will be hoping that Textor can make a breakthrough in negotiations and come to an agreement on a takeover in the near future.

A fresh new start under Textor would give fans real hope that has been absent for quite some time now. Owls fans are desperate for some kind of stability for their club, which doesn't look likely whilst the Thai businessman is still at the helm. A new face in Textor combined with his footballing know-how throughout his career would give Wednesday a new outlook they need due to being currently stuck in a rut.

If they were to be relegated from the second tier this season, Textor guidance would give them a fighting chance of making an immediate return to the Championship, and bettering that, push towards the top half of the table.
