La Liga outfit Real Betis have on Sunday been afforded a boost on the personnel front.

This comes on the back of Leeds United’s defeat at the hands of Southampton.

Leeds made the trip to Wembley Stadium this evening, for the Championship playoff final, with a spot in the Premier League for next season on the line.

When all was said and done, Daniel Farke’s troops were condemned to the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline, owing to a first-half strike on the part of Adam Armstrong.

And as much is likely to have given rise to a collective grin in the boardroom at the aforementioned Real Betis.

Marc Roca spent this past season on loan at the Estadio Benito Villamarín, from none other than Leeds.

As part of the agreement struck between the clubs last summer, it was decided that, in the case of Leeds missing out on promotion back to the top-flight of English football, midfielder Roca’s loan would be automatically extended by a further 12 months.

Ahead of the imminent departure of Guido Rodríguez for Barcelona, confirmation of Roca staying put, in turn, marks excellent news for Manuel Pellegrini and co.

As per Marca, Betis’ headmaster was eager to keep hold of the 27-year-old for next season, with Roca himself, too, desperate to remain in his home country.
