According to journalist Alfie House, the home supporters at the King Power Stadium were seeking to inflict the 9-0 scoreline on the Saints for a second time after they earned that result in October 2019.

The Foxes secured their greatest ever Premier League victory at St. Mary’s over five years ago, in a game where both Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy scored hat tricks.

However, goals from Ross Stewart, Jack Stephens, Ryan Manning and Shea Charles sealed a remarkable second half comeback.

The result has given managerless Leicester their fourth league defeat in a row, increasing the risk of relegation to League One for this season.

Leicester fans were reportedly in good spirits with the team 3-0 ahead against Southampton on Tuesday night.

It’s been claimed that “we want nine” chants were heard from supporters after goals from Divine Mukasa, Patson Daka and Abdul Fatawu put the team ahead after 30 minutes.

Andy King’s side were looking to put an end to the club’s poor run of form, which had led to Martí Cifuentes losing his position as head coach earlier in the month after a 2-1 loss to Oxford United.

However, Stewart’s 61st minute strike inspired a comeback from Tonda Eckert’s team, who moved up to ninth in the Championship table as a consequence of their stoppage time winner.

Leicester supporters will now be furious that their team were unable to close out the game after taking such a strong and early lead at home.

As fate would have it, the two teams will meet again immediately this weekend at St. Mary’s in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Leicester fans have every right to be furious after humiliating 4-3 loss

Southampton fans will feel a sense of revenge all these years on from the 9-0 defeat in 2019 after completing a remarkable comeback on Tuesday night.

But Leicester fans have every right to be furious with the team for failing to even just earn a point from the game given they were comfortably ahead after half an hour.

Given they were chanting for another 9-0 at that point, to go on to lose the game — especially given how important three points now is for the club — is really unacceptable.

The Foxes are only out of the relegation zone due to a superior goal difference, but this defeat has left them with one game played more than 22nd place Blackburn Rovers.
