Pompey have been back in the second-tier for two seasons now and have been exploring ways of establishing their status at this level.

One way of doing this is expanding Fratton Park, their iconic home ground, which is something Portsmouth have invested a lot of time into over the past few years.

The South Coast outfit announced in 2020 that they received planning permission for the development of the Milton End and outlined their plans to conduct a complete multi-million-pound redevelopment of the ground a year later.

Pompey are eyeing up a fresh expansion to their North Stand, which is part of a redevelopment of the entire Portsmouth centre area. CEO Andy Cullen recently revealed that construction of a new Fratton footbridge is likely to cost more than originally planned, but the wheels are in motion regarding an expansion.

With all this in mind, Football League World has taken a look at how much Pompey’s owner, Michael Eisner, is worth.

Eisner has been in control of Pompey since 2017 and has helped the club progress up the EFL, establishing themselves as a Championship outfit.

He paid a reported £5.67m for the South Coast outfit, which is a minuscule amount compared to his net worth.

According to Forbes, Eisner enjoys a net worth of $1.1B, which translates to £826m.

The 83-year-old made most of this money during his time as chairman and CEO of the Disney company from 1984 to 2005, providing him with the resources necessary to purchase Portsmouth.

Fratton Park expansion could help take Portsmouth to the next level

As previously mentioned, Portsmouth have been back in the Championship for multiple years now and are looking to establish their position in the division.

Although Fratton Park has unbelievable charm and character, it lacks the modern infrastructure that is required to help teams push further up the second-tier and towards the promotion fight.

Whilst their rivals can increase revenue streams due to their stadium being able to host events such as high-profile music concerts, Pompey can’t currently match that, which means that they are missing out on a simple way to bring more money into the club.

Expanding Fratton Park would no doubt help Portsmouth get closer to matching other Championship teams off the pitch, which is the ultimate goal for all involved with the South Coast outfit.

Eisner certainly has the net worth to make that happen and it may be only a matter of time before Fratton Park receives a significant makeover.
