Parma have signed David Romero on a five-year deal through 2031, the 23-year-old forward being announced on Friday 14.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the Argentine left Tigre for the Italian club after his name had been floated as a possible Flamengo reinforcement during the window, with expectations heightened when he spent part of his holiday in Rio de Janeiro.

He later drew attention when he was omitted from a Tigre match in the Copa Sudamericana, with the Argentine side saying a viral condition kept him out.

On 22 July, football executive José Boto said there had been no negotiations from Flamengo’s side for Romero, speaking on arrival at Arena Condá.

Flamengo had focused on Thiago Almada for several weeks, but the Argentine agreed a move to River Plate. A bid to sign Luiz Henrique was also explored, though the club stepped away due to the fee sought by Zenit of Russia.

While the hierarchy continue to assess options, Flamengo face Mirassol in the Brasileirão on Sunday 16, with kick-off at 18:30 Brasília time at Estádio Maião.
