After seven seasons at Borussia Dortmund, Julian Brandt will be leaving the Signal Iduna Park outfit when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Several clubs have shown an interest in signing Brandt, who has no desire to move to another Bundesliga club, meaning a move abroad beckons.
According to Sport Bild, Atlético Madrid have initiated contact with Brandt’s family, who advise the 30-year-old, and a meeting is expected to take place after Dortmund’s final game of the season.
What’s more, as reported via FussballTransfers, Brandt’s girlfriend lives in Spain and Dortmund’s No.10 appears open to a switch to the Spanish capital. Atlético also appear front-runners, ahead of arsenal, AS Roma and Fenerbahce, as they seek a replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who will join Orlando City at the end of the season when his contract expires.
During his time in Dortmund, Brandt has scored 57 goals and provided 70 assists in 306 appearances across all competitions.
