Liam Rosenior has been getting Chelsea fans excited by talking about how impressed he’s been by the latest crop of academy talents.

Chelsea take on Wrexham tonight in the FA Cup, and he’s taking some some academy kids with him to North Wales.

“Ryan [Kavuma-McQueen] and Jesse [Derry] will travel with the group, so they will be part of the squad for Wrexham,’ said Rosenior in quotes featured on the club’s official website.

“Jesse’s really impressed me, Ryan’s impressed, but it’s not just those two. There have been a few that I’ve got to see in training when they’ve been brought up that I’m really happy with.

“Reggie Watson has trained with us a few times, he’s really impressed me. It’s scary the age that he is. Young Mahdi [Nicoll-Jazuli] has been up a few times, he’s an outstanding talent as well.”

McFarlane gives Rosenior instant insight on academy crop

As Rosenior went on to point out, the fact that former Under-21s coach Calum McFarlane has been promoted to first team assistant gives him an instant understanding of this group and their level.

“I’m very fortunate to have Calum in our staff, who has an unbelievable understanding of the Academy, the players that are coming through. I want to develop players from within this Academy as well, so they’ll be travelling with us.”
