Nicolas Jackson has suddenly become a major topic again after it became clear he will come back to Chelsea this summer.

There is speculation swirling around Nicolas Jackson once again, after an exclusive for the Times last night claimed he would not be staying at Bayern long term. That piece said he could come back to Chelsea to play. But the BBC’s Nizaar Kinsella has a further update today which casts doubt on that.

Jackson’s future up in the air – but Chelsea stay unlikely

Nicolas Jackson holds up a Bayern shirt ahead of his move.

“[There is now] the strong possibility the Senegal striker will return to Chelsea [rather than stay at Bayern],” Kinsella writes for the BBC’s Ask Me Anything page.

“However, those close to the player do not expect him to feature at Stamford Bridge again, with Chelsea having made him available for sale last summer.”

It’s pretty clear that Chelsea would like to sell him, and that Jackson would prefer to go. But that requires a deal that works for Chelsea financially, and offers Jackson a destination he approves. That may not be easy considering the €70m demands we were making of Bayern 6 months ago.

Despite being the preferred option of both sides for him to leave, don’t be surprised if he ends up staying simply because a suitable deal can’t be found. Another year on loan, this time with a more reasonable purchase option, also seems like a good solution for all parties.

In other news…

Unlike Jackson, Moises Caicedo won’t be going anywhere, but there is still speculation around him as he awaits a new contract.

Also on the London is Blue podcast, Law spoke a little about Levi Colwill’s return from injury and had a disappointing update.
