Paul Pogba (32) was unveiled to the media as an AS Monaco player on Thursday, however, he is not expected to make his first-team debut anytime soon.
There is a great clamour to see Pogba back on the pitch after an absence of almost two years. However, that will have to wait. La Pioche said that it was an “extra motivation” to be fit to play against his formative club, Le Havre AC, on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season in mid-August.
However, once the Frenchman departed the scene, Thiago Scuro provided a dose of realism. “I can guarantee that he won’t be on the pitch against Le Havre. We are here to be realistic,” began Monaco’s CEO in response to a question from Get French Football News. “We expect a three-month process. High-level sport is a lot about science and it is not easy. Monaco is one of the most intense teams in Ligue 1 and play a style that requires him to be fit,” he added.
Scuro added that “increasing the load” is on the agenda for Pogba in the coming weeks, however, it now looks unlikely that we will see the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder before the start of October.
