An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga champions Barcelona to afford a debut appearance to summer signing Rodri has come to the fore online. This comes amid the understanding that, all going according to plan, the 30-year-old will see minutes in the Blaugrana’s upcoming meeting with Athletic Club.

Hansi Flick’s Barca of course kicked the defence of their Spanish top-flight title into gear on Sunday, making the trip to Alicante for a meeting with Elche.

En route to an eventual 5-0 romp, however, the aforementioned Rodri was forced to watch on from his new home back in Catalunya’s capital.

On Monday morning, the former Manchester City man linked up with his new teammates in group training at the Ciutat Esportiva for the first time, in the process inching towards his competitive bow in the colours of the reigning Spanish champions.

And as alluded to above, all going well, as much is likely to arrive in just three days’ time. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Rodri began his preparation with the group with his sights set on Thursday, the day on which he could make his debut in the blue and red colours coinciding with the visit of Athletic Club to Spotify Camp Nou.’
