Crowds are being urged to line the streets as Jill Scott completes her 388-mile Sport Relief homecoming, a 28-mile run from Bishop Aukland to the Stadium of Light today.
According to Sunderland Echo, the former lioness and Sunderland football icon set off this morning to help disadvantaged people across the UK.
She began at Wembley Stadium on Monday, cycling to Villa Park, one of her former clubs. Day two was a 99-mile ride to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, then 38 miles on foot to Manchester on day three. Yesterday she cycled 111 miles over the Pennines to Bishop Aukland.
She has already reached Croxdale and is due in Durham City around midday, crossing New Elvet Bridge. The route then heads through Gilesgate and onto Sunderland Road.
West Rainton follows, along Chantry Place Road beside the A690, likely before 2pm. She enters the city at East Rainton, leaving the A690 for Durham Road, expected before 2.30pm.
Houghton-Le-Spring comes next on Durham Road between 3pm and 3.30pm. Middle Herrington follows on the same road, likely before 3.30pm.
She is set to pass Tunstall on Durham Road before 3.45pm, then reach the city centre at Keel Square and the Keel Crossing around 4pm.
From there it is on to Roker via Roker Baths Road between 4pm and 4.30pm, then Fulwell, turning back at Seaburn Metro Station.
The final approach is along Newcastle Road to the Stadium of Light, with an estimated finish at 4.50pm. To track her progress, use the live tracker on the Comic Relief website. Donations can be made via her Comic Relief funding page.
