The 2025/26 Premier League net spend table lays out how Sunderland and their rivals operated in the market, with the Black Cats surviving and, in their case, thriving.
According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland led the promoted trio with a net spend of 119m, following 156m in signings and 37m recouped.
Arsenal topped the overall list on 250.1m and won the title, holding off Manchester City. Liverpool were next on 235m, followed by Manchester United on 166.9m and Tottenham on 150.4m.
Sunderland placed behind Manchester City in this metric and ahead of Everton, who posted 116m.
Newcastle endured a rough campaign despite spending 252m and bringing in 157m, for a 95m net outlay. Leeds registered 100.1m spent, 8.6m recouped and a 91.5m net.
