FC Bayern face Arsenal FC in the Champions League – here are the expected line-ups
FC Bayern are facing their next Champions League clash: on Wednesday evening (9pm, live on DAZN), the German record champions host Arsenal FC. The starting position is clear – Bayern lead the group, with Arsenal lurking behind them. An away win would allow Vincent Kompany’s team to pull away
After the 6-2 win against SC Freiburg, in which Munich turned around an early deficit, Kompany will be looking to field his strongest team again in the top flight. However, the coach will have to do without Luis Diaz. The Colombian was banned for three games by UEFA after his foul on Achraf Hakimi in Paris – a decision that Bayern are appealing against, but which will definitely apply to the clash in London
Captain Manuel Neuer is expected to return in goal, with a back four of Josip Stanisic, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer starting in front of him
In the center of midfield, there is much to be said for the duo of Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic. Kimmich was rested against Freiburg, is fit and ready for the top match. Pavlovic impressed recently, while Leon Goretzka was disappointing against Freiburg
In attack, Lennart Karl is likely to return to action. The 17-year-old has been in impressive form of late, scoring and assisting against Freiburg and really imposing himself on the team. Michael Olise is set to start. Serge Gnabry is also likely to return to the starting eleven after returning from the international break with an injury and sitting out against Freiburg. Goalscorer Harry Kane will lead the Bayern attack as usual
Kompany said at the pre-match press conference: „It looks good for Serge Gnabry, we’ll see if he can play 90 minutes. We were afraid, but he’s giving good signals, it looks good. And Joshua Kimmich has also given good signals, it was a positive day, we probably have all the players available.“
Bayern’s likely starting XI at a glance: Neuer – Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer – Kimmich, Pavlovic – Karl, Olise, Gnabry – Kane

Arsenal lead the Premier League and, like Bayern, have won every game in the Champions League. Coach Mikel Arteta can largely draw on a full squad against the German record champions
The likely Arsenal starting XI at a glance: Raya – J. Timber, Saliba, Hincapie, Calafiori – Eze, Zubimendi, Rice – Saka, Merino, Trossard
