Must-win game for Spurs in Premier League survival fight
Tottenham travel to Aston Villa tonight knowing that time is ticking away from them in their fight to stay in the Premier League.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men occupy the final place in the Premier League’s bottom three, with one final relegation spot to be confirmed after Wolves and Burnley fell through the trap door.
Spurs are two points adrift of safety with four games to play, and they take on a Villa side in a patchy run of form.
However, Unai Emery’s Villans are still in the hunt for a Champions League place, and a good set of results in the run-in would consolidate their place in Europe’s top competition next term.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are hoping to avoid a shock relegation, and were buoyed by West Ham’s defeat at Brentford on Saturday.
This fixture was supposed to be a 12.30pm BST kick off on Saturday, but has been moved because of Villa’s Europa League semi-final first leg against Nottingham Forest on Thursday.
Villa lost 1-0 at the City Ground thanks to Chris Wood’s penalty.
As such, this game has been shifted from Saturday to Sunday, and the later kick off time is so that the game does not clash with Bournemouth’s game against Crystal Palace at 2pm or Manchester United’s encounter with Liverpool, which has also been moved to 3.30pm.
This match was scheduled to be broadcast by TNT Sports - hence the original Saturday lunchtime start - and as such, could not be played during Sky Sports’ ‘Super Sunday’ window of a 2pm or 4.30pm kick off.
