Jayden Bogle was a surprise absentee from Leeds United’s squad to face Manchester United in the Premier League. His omission came amid recent links to a move away, with Everton reportedly interested, but the reason has since been clarified.

According to BBC Radio Leeds, the right back has suffered a minor calf problem that ruled him out of the derby, and there was said to be nothing sinister behind his omission.

Daniel Farke made two changes from the Liverpool game, with Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin starting. Sean Longstaff also returned to the bench in place of Bogle.

James Justin impressed at Anfield, giving Farke a capable option on the right for the derby. Even so, the manager will hope Bogle is not sidelined for long.

Bogle has been ever-present for Leeds this season, only dropping to the bench for the Liverpool fixture. He featured 44 times in the Championship last season and has been one of Farke’s most reliable performers.

With captain Ethan Ampadu suspended and Joe Rodon injured, the squad is already feeling the strain after a busy festive period.
