Why Fiorentina can now lose Dodo on a free transfer | OneFootball

Serie A side Fiorentina were rather close to selling Dodo in the summer, as Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos made offers for him. But now, there is a rising risk of losing him for free.

The right-back’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2027, which made La Viola desperate to sell him. It would’ve allowed them the chance to earn something from the transfer.

Now, La Gazzetta dello Sport report that there is no renewal on the horizon for the right-back and no meetings for it are in sight either. 

For two years now, Fiorentina have tried to hand him renewals. At one point in 2024, things appeared to be close. But nothing moved and that has led to this situation. One reason for the lack of renewal is Dodo’s agents possibly having asked for a significant commission, which Fiorentina didn’t agree to pay. 

Nottingham Forest did make an offer but the player wasn’t keen on the deal. As of now, Napoli continue to monitor Dodo but Max Allegri has been impressed with Constantino Favasuli’s rise this season, ruling out any immediate move for another right-back.

Fiorentina, at their end, haven’t made any progress and there is a big possibility of him leaving for free.
