Ilia Gruev missed Bulgaria’s latest fixture after withdrawing for personal reasons, as his national side routed the Solomon Islands 10-2.
The Leeds United midfielder, 25, has 27 caps and was named in March’s squad. He said: "These are my personal reasons and I hope you will respect my opinion that I will not comment on this topic anymore", speaking to fakti.bg.

Gruev was recently voted Bulgaria’s 2025 Player of the Year. He withdrew before Friday’s opener against the Solomon Islands.
Without him, Bulgaria faced the minnows and ran out 10-2 winners. It was the country’s biggest victory of the 21st century.
The fixture formed part of the 2026 FIFA Series in Indonesia.
