Juventus are keen to sell Jonathan David this summer, and Crystal Palace have emerged as one of the clubs interested in adding him to their squad during this transfer window. The Premier League side wants a new striker, with one reason being Jean Philippe Mateta’s desire to leave the club before the window closes.

Mateta is attracting interest from Aston Villa and wants to make the move, with Palace expected to turn to David as his replacement if the French striker departs. The situation could allow both clubs to address their respective needs before the transfer window closes.

Juventus Could Target Mateta

Juventus would also need to replace David if they sell him, and one of the strikers they have been following in recent months is Mateta. The Bianconeri could therefore make an approach for the Palace forward if he becomes available, potentially creating an unusual situation between the two clubs.

Both sides could ultimately consider swapping their strikers instead of completing separate transfers. Such an arrangement would allow Palace to add David to their squad while Juventus bring Mateta to Turin, giving each team the player they want before the window closes.

Identical Valuations Could Aid Swap

According to Football Italia, Crystal Palace want €25 million for Mateta, who will become a free agent at the end of this season. That is also the figure Juventus want for David, meaning the two players have the same reported market value.

With both clubs placing the same valuation on their respective strikers, a direct swap could potentially be considered without any cash changing hands. Such an agreement would allow both teams to resolve their striker situations while avoiding the need for lengthy negotiations over transfer fees.

For Palace, signing David would provide a replacement if Mateta leaves for Aston Villa. For Juventus, bringing in Mateta would give them an option to replace David if they complete his sale.

The situation has therefore created the possibility of a straightforward exchange, with both clubs potentially solving their individual problems by swapping players valued at the same amount. However, whether either side chooses to pursue such an arrangement remains to be seen before the transfer window closes.
