New Caledonia and Tahiti have reaffirmed their support for Gianni Infantino as the next FIFA election draws closer. According to L'Équipe, both are among the smaller associations whose votes are prized in that contest.

Infantino’s most recent tour of the Caribbean was not insignificant. The region contains 25 FIFA-affiliated federations, a useful pool of votes ahead of the 17 March 2027 ballot.

FIFA’s electoral system gives every member an equal say. With 211 federations, the organisation has more members than the United Nations.

Infantino has been pictured alongside Thierry Ariiotima, president of the Tahitian federation.

Their backing illustrates the influence that smaller federations can wield within this structure.
