Why Rodrigo Saravia to Unión is possible

Unión have set midfield as the priority for the next window. Mauricio Martínez looks bound for a return to Rosario Central, where he has one year left, and the club are already fielding offers from abroad. A comeback to Santa Fe would depend on a termination and new loan, a scenario viewed as distant.

According to Radiogol.com, Leonardo Madelón has revived a familiar option, Rodrigo Saravia, whom he coached at Gimnasia. The Uruguayan was close to Unión in June before choosing Belgrano.

Saravia’s time in Córdoba has brought little continuity and a fit that never settled with Ricardo Zielinski. He is not among the coach’s first choices and Belgrano would not resist a departure if a firm offer arrives.

The obstacle is contractual. Saravia belongs to MMR Sports Group and is tied to Belgrano until December 2026, which raises costs. Even so, the clubs have a good relationship, are partners in Agustín Colazo’s pass, and still have a pending deal over Thiago Cardozo’s option, now or in June.

Unión are cautious. Saravia came from FK Rostov short of rhythm after half a season inactive, then logged two full Copa Argentina games, 180 minutes, plus seven Clausura appearances, for 670 minutes in total.

Madelón remains confident he could regain form with minutes and help immediately, while the board weigh finances and demand clear sporting guarantees. With midfield reinforcements needed, Saravia is a concrete possibility, though a final decision is not imminent.
