The 28-year-old is free to speak to clubs outside of the WSL, as she is now in the final six months of her contract.

Below, SheKicks takes a look at Shaw’s current contract situation.

Will Bunny Shaw sign a new contract?

It is looking positive for Manchester City that Bunny Shaw will extend her future with the WSL league leaders.

Shaw is enjoying one of the best seasons of her career under Andree Jeglertz.

She has scored 12 league goals in as many games, double that of the WSL’s second-top scorer, Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson.

City is in an excellent position to win their first title since 2016.

Sky Sports have reported that talks are “going ahead positively” and that Bunny Shaw is “very happy” at the club.

What Shaw has said about her Manchester City future

Shaw has not discussed her contract situation but has repeatedly spoken of how happy she is at the club.

Last month, Shaw netted her 100th goal for the club, becoming the first women’s player to do so at Manchester City.

Shaw did so by scoring four goals in their 4-1 win over Aston Villa. After the match, she said on the microphone in front of the home fans: “Manchester is my home.”

Jeglertz confirmed afterwards the club are in discussions with her over a potential new deal. He added: “She has a big role but is also a great team-mate. She knows it’s not just about her scoring goals. The assists have to come from somebody.

“She is working every day to become a little bit better and that is the most important thing in this job – that she is never satisfied.

Shaw one of many WSL players out of contract this summer

The next few months will have a huge say on the future of the WSL, with many big-name players out of contract this summer.

European champions Arsenal have 10 players out of contract this summer. That list includes the likes of Leah Williamson, Beth Mead and Katie McCabe.

The same can be said of Chelsea with Lucy Bronze, Millie Bright, Sam Kerr and Hannah Hampton all in the final months of their contracts.

Manchester City made some moves at the end of 2025, tying down the likes of Alex Greenwood, Mary Fowler and Rebecca Knack to new deals.
