Will Ferry makes future admission months after Celtic transfer interest | OneFootball

Former Celtic transfer target Will Ferry has refused to rule out leaving Dundee United after talks over a new contract were put on hold.

The 25-year-old was repeatedly linked with a move to Parkhead during the summer as Celtic searched for additional cover for Kieran Tierney at left-back.

Ferry attracted interest from elsewhere, with Dundee United accepting an offer worth around £1.7million from Czech side Sigma Olomouc before the defender turned down the move.

Celtic ultimately decided against pursuing Ferry and instead brought in Landon Emenalo on loan from Chelsea.

However, Ferry’s future at Tannadice remains uncertain despite Dundee United putting a contract extension on the table.

His current deal runs until 2027, meaning he could enter the final year of his contract next summer, and Ferry insists he is in no rush to make a decision over his future.

“There was a contract offer but we’re not speaking about it just now,” he said via The Courier: “Do I see myself moving on at the end of the season? Not necessarily, but right now it’s not something that we’re talking about.

“I’m not saying talks are done, but right now it’s not what we’re thinking about. It’s about staying fit because nobody wants someone who isn’t fit and playing well.

“And it’s not going to benefit us as a team if I’m not fit.

“So nothing is ongoing. Whether something does start; we’ll see. I’m not committing my future in September.”
