The future of Nicolas Jackson at FC Bayern is still open and whether he can stay for the long term apparently depends on certain factors

The record champions want to wait and see how Jackson develops in sporting terms before deciding whether to enter into talks with Chelsea FC about a permanent transfer. If the Senegalese remains at his current level of performance or is unable to make a lasting impression, a permanent transfer would be very complicated from Bayern’s point of view

In principle, those responsible are not dissatisfied with Jackson’s development to date. After initial difficulties, the 24-year-old has got into his stride and impressed above all with his efficiency. Six goals in 18 appearances speak for themselves, even if he was mostly used as a wild card. Jackson will now miss Bayern for the time being: he is away with Senegal at the Africa Cup. Internally, however, he is seen more as a supplementary player behind Harry Kane – and that is precisely a decisive point in the assessment

Chelsea probably not yet ready to negotiate Jackson’s transfer

It was already clear at the time of the loan on Deadline Day that a permanent transfer was only realistic under certain conditions. The loan fee amounted to 16.5 million euros, plus a purchase obligation of 65 million euros, which was, however, linked to clear conditions. As Uli Hoeneß explained at the time: „He has to play 40 games from the start – he never does.“ It is now clear that this mark can no longer be reached. The purchase obligation no longer applies, only an option remains

According to several reports, Chelsea are still insisting on the originally agreed transfer fee and are not offering any price reduction. However, an investment of this magnitude would only be conceivable for FC Bayern if Jackson plays a significantly bigger role in the sport. The attacker will remain part of the squad until the summer, after which the decision will be made. Whether he stays in Munich beyond the season therefore depends primarily on two factors: his own performances – and the Londoners‘ willingness to negotiate.
