Coach Vincent Kompany gave a clear update on the current situation at the pre-match press conference – and hinted at a trend

Kompany tends towards Urbig

„Normally Urbig is in goal tomorrow. But we have training today. It’s about what Manuel can do now. There’s always a difference between training and the game. If he can’t, Jonas will play,“ explained the coach

This currently suggests that Jonas Urbig will be back between the posts. The 22-year-old recently returned after suffering a concussion in the 4-1 defeat to Atalanta Bergamo and could now be given the nod again

Neuer, meanwhile, continues to work on his comeback. The 39-year-old suffered another muscle fibre tear in his calf after his return at the beginning of March and has been undergoing recovery training since then. Whether he will be fit enough to play depends largely on his fitness in training

Pavlovic also set to return

In addition to the goalkeeper issue, Kompany also commented on the personnel situation in midfield, with positive signs surrounding Aleksandar Pavlovic, who was substituted early against Bergamo

„It’s not an injury for Aleksandar Pavlović. If he feels better today, he’ll be fully available tomorrow. The lads have already played a lot of games this season, but it shouldn’t be a problem for him tomorrow,“ said Kompany

The 21-year-old could therefore be an important option for the game against Union.
