Willian invites Selam Araya to Grêmio match as bus station performance goes viral | OneFootball

German singer Selam Araya visited Porto Alegre at the invitation of Grêmio midfielder Willian, performing at the central bus station as his posts went viral. According to Globo.com, he also watched Grêmio’s 1-0 win over Coritiba at the Arena.

Araya has more than 850,000 Instagram followers, including Willian, the club’s No 10. After the midfielder liked one of his videos, Araya messaged to express his admiration and asked if he could attend a game if he came to Brazil. Though he supports Borussia Dortmund, his family follow Chelsea, Willian’s former club.

He travelled through São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro before heading to Porto Alegre. In late April, with the 37-year-old recovering from a right thigh tendinopathy, Willian took him to the match at the Arena.

During the stay, Borges was introduced to the musician and, with a translator’s help, they bridged the language gap. After the game, Borges took Araya for barbecue, where the singer, wearing a signed No 10 shirt, performed Human Nature and Ordinary People using a phone and speaker.

The Michael Jackson track drew more than two million views on Araya’s Instagram. Grêmio fans shared the clip and the club’s account reposted it. Araya later thanked Willian in a post, saying the player’s humility and big heart impressed him.

The bond has moved Borges, who keeps in touch with Araya on WhatsApp. He hopes the singer will explore worship music and believes such a shift could take him beyond 10 million followers. Araya also addressed Douglas, promising brotherhood for ever and saying he would not forget the vision shared with him.
