According to L'Équipe, FIFA has selected French referee Willy Delajod, 33, for VAR duty at the 2026 World Cup, which runs from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

He joins Jérôme Brisard in the video team. Central referees François Letexier and Clément Turpin have also been appointed, with Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni working with Letexier, and Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pagès with Turpin.

The appointments take the French contingent to eight officials at the tournament.

Delajod has overseen 25 matches this season, including 16 in Ligue 1 and four in the Europa League.

The news emerged during a refereeing media day at Clairefontaine on Wednesday.
