Wilson Isidor has confirmed he will represent Haiti at international level, issuing a 148-word message before Sunderland’s derby at Newcastle United.
The player said in a post that he had taken time to reflect before accepting a call-up, adding that supporters’ appeals had deeply moved him.

His message to fans and the Haitian community stressed doing things properly for the country and the balance of the team. It expressed pride at joining the Grenadiers and at representing the nation.
The statement highlighted a chance to write history and adventures to come, and looked forward to the diaspora’s fervour and to meeting supporters.
The announcement arrives as Sunderland prepare for Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby at St James’ Park.
