The federation announced that Wilton Pereira Sampaio, from Goiás, will take charge of Flamengo v Corinthians on Sunday 13 September at the Maracanã, the fixture counting for the 28th round of the Brasileirão.
Assistants and VAR officials have not yet been named, with confirmation expected in the coming days.
Sampaio has overseen 44 Flamengo matches, with 25 wins, 10 draws and nine defeats for the Rio side. Their points return under him is above 65 percent, a record that strongly favours the hosts.
He was recently at the centre of debate in Corinthians v Santos, drawing criticism for inconsistent foul calls. Beyond the league, he also drew attention in the World Cup opener, where he sent off three players in United States v South Africa.
Before facing Corinthians, Flamengo play Mirassol, Remo and Independiente del Valle (EQU). That run could affect preparation due to fatigue. Squad depth may be bolstered, with forwards the Argentine Joaquín Freitas and the Ecuadorian Anthony Valencia signed, and the club could yet see Gonzalo Plata return after he failed Dínamo de Moscou’s medical.
