Scoring the only goal in the fine victory against Paris Saint-Germain (1-0), the Japanese attacking midfielder was logically elected MVP of the match on the AS Monaco App.

He concluded his excellent week in the best possible way. He had already scored against Pafos on Wednesday in the Champions League, and  Takumi Minamino once again proved himself in a short but impressive victory over PSG (1-0), played as part of Matchday 14 in Ligue 1. And with good reason, as he was the one who scored the only goal of the match.

A perfect strike into the bottom corner ⚽

It was the 68th minute when he was found on the edge of the box by Aleksandr Golovin. The attacking midfielder controlled the ball with his knee before unleashing a perfectly placed, low, left-footed shot across goal into the bottom corner, leaving Lucas Chevalier completely helpless. It was his third league goal this season after scoring against Strasbourg in August and against Auxerre in September.

We decided to press high with Taki. And he was truly fantastic today from a tactical point of view, because he managed both Marquinhos and Vitinha. And for that, you really need great tactical awareness. Taking Marquinhos out while closing down Vitinha's passing lanes, and applying negative pressure, that's pretty good.

A great tactical display to disrupt PSG 👨?🏫

But more than his goal, the Japanese player was invaluable in securing the clean sheet. “He was truly fantastic from a tactical point of view. Closing down Marquinhos while also closing down the passing lanes for Vitinha, and applying ‘negative’ pressure, that’s quite something,” praised his coach in the post-match press conference. This “great tactical sense” disrupted PSG’s build-up play, allowing him to win back possession four times, three of which were in the final third.

A second MVP title this season ✌️

It was a complete performance both offensively and defensively, including six touches in the box, a key pass leading to a shot, and winning both of his duels. The Monaco number 18 was thus overwhelmingly voted MVP for the second time on the AS Monaco App with 66% of the vote, ahead of Golo, who provided the decisive assist, and Mohammed Salisu, who was dominant in the duels. Bravo, Taki! 👏
