AFCON preparations: Egypt could face Morocco in a friendly!

Moroccan newspaper Al-Mountakhab reports that the head coach of Egypt’s national team, Hossam Hassan, is eager to arrange a friendly match against Morocco as part of their build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.Morocco is set to host the 35th edition of the tournament, scheduled to run from December 21 to January 18.

This move aims to test the readiness of the Egyptian squad against a formidable opponent stacked with talent from Europe’s top leagues—a side widely regarded as one of the favorites for the title.

Hossam Hassan has also suggested that the match be played in Morocco, giving his players the chance to adapt to conditions similar to those they’ll face during the tournament.The Pharaohs have been drawn into Group B, alongside South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe. They’ll kick off their campaign on December 22 against Zimbabwe, face South Africa on December 26, and wrap up the group stage against Angola on December 29.As for the Atlas Lions, they’re in Group A with Mali, Zambia, and Comoros. Morocco will open the tournament on Sunday, December 21, against Comoros, take on Mali on Friday, December 26, and finish the group stage against Zambia on Monday, December 29.
