Hugo’s time at Corinthians could be nearing its end. Without playing since February, he may depart this window on loan or by terminating his deal to seek opportunities elsewhere.

According to Globo.com, his contract runs until 31 December this year and, at present, the club do not plan to renew it, so the defender has started exploring the market.

Sport held talks in recent hours but no financial agreement was reached. The Série B club, chasing a return to the top flight, could not meet the full-back’s terms, and Corinthians did not oppose a move.

Signed in January 2024, Hugo has made 75 appearances for Corinthians, with six assists and no goals. He was behind Matheus Bidu, then slipped to last in the pecking order after Fabrizio Angileri arrived in the first quarter of 2025.

This season has been his toughest. On the fifth of February, against Capivariano at Neo Química Arena, he suffered a lateral meniscus injury in his right knee and required surgery, spending months sidelined.

He is now cleared and training without restrictions. On Sunday, against Coritiba, he was among the substitutes due to Matheus Bidu’s absence, but Fernando Diniz did not use him.
