Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Stoke City 4-1 at Molineux, climbing from 12th to first in the Championship, as Rodrigo Gomes' brace and a Raúl Jiménez penalty extended the visitors' losing start to three games.

In the second minute Sam Gallagher put Stoke City ahead with a right-footed strike from outside the box. Gomes levelled from close range (19.) and swept in a second to turn the game on its head (22.).

José Sá kept Wolves in front before the break with smart stops as Stoke City threatened from crosses.

After the restart Jiménez won a penalty when he was fouled by Ben Johnson (54.). The Mexican sent Viktor Johansson the wrong way from the spot (55.).

Substitute Jordan James added late gloss, finishing Fer López's cut-back from the centre of the area (84.).

Wolves registered 18 attempts, with eight on target. Stoke City managed 10 attempts and three on target.
