Wolverhampton Wanderers punish Preston as López brace lifts visitors to third | OneFootball

Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Preston North End 3-1 at Deepdale, climbing from 11th to third in the Championship as Fer López struck twice.

López opened the scoring in the eighth minute, rifling into the top right after André led a break. Daniel Iversen kept Preston in it before the interval, palming away Rodrigo Gomes' drive as Wolves pushed for a second.

After the restart the changes told. Adam Armstrong arrived from the bench to sweep in Raúl Jiménez's cut-back (71.), then Thomas Doyle teed up López to tuck in the clincher (82.). Jordan Thompson curled a consolation into the top right in the first minute of second half stoppage time from Delano Burgzorg's pass.

Wolves recorded five shots on target and controlled 54.6% of the ball. Preston mustered two efforts on target from 13 attempts.
