Wolves head coach Vítor Pereira has been fined £15,000 by the Football Association following a misconduct incident during his side’s Premier League draw with Brighton on 5 October, BBC Sport reports.

The 57-year-old Portuguese manager admitted to “acting in an improper manner” after kicking a spare match ball in frustration during the first half of the contest. The ball struck an individual near the dugout, prompting referee Jarred Gillett to show Pereira a red card in the 19th minute.

Although an independent regulatory commission ruled that a touchline ban was unnecessary, the panel determined that the behaviour warranted a higher penalty than the standard £8,000 fine typically issued for similar cases.

Pereira, who took charge of Wolves in December 2024, publicly apologised for the incident. “I know football is emotional, and I’m an emotional guy,” he said. “But my behaviour was not proper. I kicked a ball and it cannot happen again. I apologise.”

The fine comes amid growing pressure on Pereira, with Wolves currently bottom of the Premier League and winless in eight matches. The Midlands club will look to end their dismal run when they host newly promoted Burnley at Molineux on Sunday, in what already feels like a pivotal fixture in their season.
